Over the past several years, BASC has observed that there are more and more players that wish to participate in soccer with people that they know from other areas of life…school, Church, scouting, etc. Therefore, along with Green Country Soccer Association, we have decided to offer our members the opportunity to form teams based on these relationships. These teams are "friendship" (also called "rec +") teams.

No. Friendship teams will participate in the Green Country Soccer Association recreational division. All players must play at least ½ of each match, and teams must be organized as follows:

Yes, beginning fall 2006, you will be able to register your team in the friendship division. If however, you choose to play in our regular recreational league in the fall, and then register as a friendship team in the spring, you MUST place all players returning from the fall team on the new friendship team. BASC makes this requirement to ensure that players are not "cut" from a current team to make room for new players.

No. If a player is on your team in the fall, that player will remain on your team in the spring unless the player requests to be removed from your team. If there is room on your team you may add players in the spring.

As long as each player resides within the Broken Arrow School District, and meets the age requirements set forth by Green Country Soccer Association, those players can participate on a friendship team. In special circumstances, players from outside the BASC boundaries may seek a club transfer to BASC from their "home" club. However, the decision to approve that request is solely that of the home club.

No. Friendship teams participate in recreational soccer. Tryouts are strictly forbidden and are not necessary to form a friendship team. Even "open" training sessions can be construed as "tryouts" & will not be allowed by the BASC. The reason is that if you don't sign as player at a training session it can be construed as a "tryout". Simply get your players & parents together and have them sign the form.

To ensure that your friendship team is properly formed, BASC suggests:

• Coach must submit an updated list of players to the BASC office with parent/guardian signatures before the deadline. This form is available on-line or at the BASC office.
• Make sure players register online by calling & reminding those players. Tell the players to note the friendship team coach they wish to play with on their form..
• The BASC office is not responsible for checking GotSoccer to see if players are registered, for individual coaches or for gathering required signatures on friendship teams.

Initially, all friendship teams will participate in the Recreational Division. Ideally, BASC will field enough friendship teams to form a "closed" league, which will allow all BASC friendship teams to play all matches at the Indian Springs Soccer Complex. However, should the number of BASC registered team not allow for a closed league, those teams will be placed in a league with neighboring soccer clubs. In these cases, matches will be played at Indian Springs Soccer Complex, as well as at the home match sites of the other teams in the open league.

If these teams participate in an "open league" with other teams in the Tulsa area, they will be eligible for League Championships if they win their leagues. However, if there is not a friendship league for them to participate in they may be placed in a closed recreational league in their age division but will not be eligible for a League Championship. They may be considered, however, for League Championship if placed in an older division recreational league.

As results from fall matches are compiled and evaluated, a friendship team may be moved to the 3rd Recreational Division to provide a more appropriate level of competition. Top tier friendship teams may apply for inclusion in the 1st Competitive Division. Approval of those applications will be the responsibility of Green Country Soccer Association.

BASC will make every effort to provide "closed" leagues, meaning that all league matches will take place at Indian Springs Soccer Complex. In the event there are not enough teams to form a "closed" league, BASC will cooperate with neighboring soccer associations to form "open" leagues. Participation in these "open" leagues may require some travel, but BASC will work diligently to keep the travel to a minimum.

No problem. BASC is happy to provide a positive soccer experience for all players. BASC will continue to form recreational teams, and provide coaching & matches for all of our members. Please sign up with confidence in knowing that BASC has a place for everyone. BASC will make every effort to provide "closed" leagues in for the recreational teams also.

Cost: $65.00 Registration Fee

After the registration deadline, players already registered as recreational players will not be added to friendship teams. Players who register after the deadline will be placed on teams that have openings or will be placed on our waiting list. BASC has final approval of all coaches.
