BASC Spring 2012 Under 5 Soccer Program Starts March 3, 2012
Do you have a 4-year-old that likes to kick the ball around? Do you want to spend some quality time with your youngster? BASC has an Under 5 soccer program again this Fall. If your son/daughter is 4 before February 1, 2012, then he/she is eligible to participate in the U5 program.
Sessions will be one on one, you and your child out there on the field together. That's right; you will be out there doing soccer with your 4-year-old. The program will be an academy style, meaning no teams, just activities. Sessions will take place for 8 Saturdays, late afternoon or early evening, after most of the other soccer activities are over for the day. At these sessions parent and child will be doing activities together, one on one. Activities will include dribbling, kicking, follow the leader and lots of touches on the ball by both parent and child. No worries parents, it is all very simple and not much work for you, after all, 4 year olds are doing it, so it isn't too hard. We will divide up to play small-sided soccer games at the end of the sessions and the parents help conduct the games. The emphasis is on FUN.
Those kids that did the U5 program in the Spring but won't be 5 before February 1 are still in the U5 age category. We hope to have enough returning U5s to have advanced U5 sessions.
Sign up and pay online. Birth certificates are required for new BASC players. You must take a certified copy to the BASC office to complete the registration process. The cost is $75 per child until Jan. 14th. Beginning January 15th the cost is $95. Sessions begin in March for 8 sessions and will be held at the U6 fields at Indian Springs Sports Complex. See the U5 Spring 2012 Update page for session times.
Participants will need to have shin guards (covered by socks) and a size 3 ball. Each child will receive a BASC club T-Shirt as well. Parents will need to dress appropriately for moving around and participating. Bring plenty of water for yourself and your child. You will be contacted about the time of your session the week of March 5th. Due to space and session size constraints, registration for this program is required.
If there are any questions about the U5 program, contact the BASC office 258-5770, or the U5 Director, Geron McGinnis, ballisticcoach@hotmail.com. The BASC website also has U5 information. If any parents wish to help out as volunteers during the sessions, please contact Geron or the BASC office.
